INTRODUCTION
The GM015 Engine Protection Unit is intended for use with diesel engine driven equipment such as generater sets or pump units.
The unit is a self interlocking solid state sensing device that can accept up to 8 ground switching sensors. Should any of the connected sensors switch to ground (battery negative) an internal solid state switch will close (in order to shut down the engine or sound an alarm). In addition, one of eight solid state switches will close each corresponding to a particular sensor.
Sensor inputs 1 to 4 are non-inhibited and will operate immediately upon grounding. These are normally used for overspeed, over temperature, low fuel, start failure, etc..
Sensor inputs 5 to 8 are inhibited inputs and will only operate when the inhibit control is grounded. These inhibited sensor inputs are activated 10 seconds after the inhibit control is grounded. This time delay enables suitable setting times. These inputs are normally connected to the sensors monitoring oil pressure, engine underspeed and alternator voltage.
Once a sensor has been activated, all other inputs are ignored. Power must be interrupted to the module for the alarm to be reset.
